OPENING: FALL SEMESTER 2023
FILM INSTRUCTOR
College of Marin seeks a film instructor to teach the following class during Fall Semester 2023:
FILM 161 – Fundamentals of Story & Writing for Moving Images
3 Units. (No prerequisite.) This beginning media-writing course introduces students to the basics of dramatic writing for cinema and electronic media emphasizing story structure, plot development and logic. Students learn the fundaments of narrative and content structure, character construction, technical, conceptual and stylistic elements of script writing for fiction informational and entertainment purposes. (CSU)
Dates: 8/21/23 – 12/16/23 (Finals Week 12/11 – 12/16)
Days: Mondays
Times: 6:10 – 9:00 pm
Campus: Kentfield, CA
REQUIREMENTS
• A Master's degree in Radio, Television, Film, Mass Communications, Communications, or Journalism;or
• A Bachelor's degree in any of the aboveANDa Master's degree in Drama/Theater Arts, Communications, Communication Studies, Business, Telecommunications, or English;or
• The equivalent;and
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the campus community.
Note: A Master's degree in Screenwriting does not satisfy the educational requirement; applicants with a Master's in Screenwriting must request an Equivalency Review when submitting their resume and transcripts.
CLEARANCES
Prior to employment, the successful candidate must successfully pass a fingerprint and tuberculin clearance.

SALARY INFORMATION
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $76,536 - $105,403* (see below for part-time instruction breakdown)

*Salaries for part-time instructors are based on the number of units taught and are paid at 95% of the Full-time Faculty Salary Schedule. New part-time instructors will be placed between Step 1, Column 1, and Step 9, Column 5 of the salary schedule, depending on verified background and experience. Salary placement is non-negotiable.
Temporary Part-time Credit Instructor Payment Formula:
Annual salary (from salary schedule) x 95%, then ÷ 30 units= per unit rate.
