Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice


Job Description & Qualification


The Area of Finance invites applications for a non‐tenure‐track Assistant or Associate
Professor of Practice position (non-tenure track, continuing appointment) beginning Fall 2023.
This position will support our growing Excellence in Banking program. Course load will be
18 credit hours per year with teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. The
position will also carry the title of “Assistant Director of the Excellence in Banking
program” and will have a significant service component which may result in a reduced
teaching load. Salary and support are competitive. There may also be opportunities for
additional (overload) teaching in the 9‐month academic year and summer for extra
compensation.
Preferred candidates will have a Ph.D. in Finance (or closely related discipline). Relevant
experience pertaining to the commercial banking industry is a plus.


Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching in both
online and face‐to‐face modalities. An active research program suitable for maintaining
AACSB scholarly academic qualifications is preferred. Service to the department, college,
and university is expected (commensurate with rank). Service duties include programbuilding
related to our commercial banking certificate program, as well as a commitment
to student organizations and other extra‐curricular activities. Texas Tech University is a

About the Organization


The Area of Finance is one of six academic units in the AACSB accredited Rawls College of
Business. The Area has 18 full‐time and emeritus faculty with a strong commitment to
high‐quality academic research in a collegial work environment. We subscribe to all major
databases (with access through WRDS) and provide an outstanding technology and
computing environment.


The Excellence in Banking program at the Rawls College of Business is designed to prepare
undergraduate finance majors for careers in commercial banking. Students in the
Excellence in Banking program take four courses related to the commercial banking
industry and upon graduation will receive a Certificate in Commercial Banking as well as
their BBA degree in Finance. Additionally, the EiB program provides numerous student
experiences to enhance the value, quality, and sustainability of its commercial banking
academic offerings.
