The Department of Computer Science of the University of Texas at Austin is recruiting for full-time, professional track faculty (Lecturer, Assistant Professor of Instruction, Associate Professor of Instruction, Professor of Instruction) positions. While these positions are not eligible for tenure, we hire with the intent that new professional faculty will become a lasting part of our community.

Qualifications

The primary duty for these positions is teaching undergraduate courses. Teaching opportunities range from introductory computer science courses, such as data structures and computer architecture, to advanced courses, such as algorithms, web applications, cybersecurity, and topics related to artificial intelligence, computer systems, big data, and UI/UX. We have opportunities teaching classes dedicated to CS majors as well as classes targeted to majors from other disciplines—many of our professional faculty teach both types of classes.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Previous teaching experience

Our faculty work together to provide the courses the students need, so flexibility in topics taught is helpful.

Letters of reference must address the candidate's overall quality of teaching and/or presentation skills, the ability to communicate complex topics and expertise in the field of computer science.
