Murray State University is seeking a tenure-track, Assistant
Professor for the Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Civil and
Sustainability Engineering program.
Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching classes in the civil and sustainability engineering program including, but not limited to, statics, mechanics of materials, transportation, geotechnical engineering, and senior design. This faculty will be expected to develop and manage student laboratory spaces. Engagement in EAC/ABET accreditation for the civil and sustainability engineering program is required. Responsibilities commensurate of an assistant professor, to include research and creative activities is critical. Other responsibilities include student academic and career advisement, and developing professional industry partners for internship and full-time career opportunities. Development and participation in student recruiting and retention activities is important for program growth.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related degree is required.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
Professional Engineering licensure in Kentucky within four years is required. Having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam or a doctorate from a civil engineering program that is approved by the Kentucky Board of Licensure and Surveyors is required.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
Experience in geotechnical or transportation engineering is preferred. Work experience as a civil or environmental engineer or teaching civil/environmental engineering is preferred.
