These duties often require extensive knowledge of various online catalogs and scholarly and legal databases in order to determine proper citations for and locations of materials. The Librarian also works closely with the Collection Development Librarian to determine when materials should be purchased rather than borrowed. With the impending campus library implementation of a new Controlled Digital Lending (CDL) platform, the Librarian will represent the Law Library’s interests in this endeavor and will design an implementation plan (along with the AIS Director) that meets the needs of the Law Library’s users.  The Librarian’s duties also include working from the Circulation Desk to provide basic research and reference services to School of Law faculty and students and other library visitors. Additional duties include using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva to create Library print and e-publications, such as library orientation handouts for new law students, signage for special events, Instagram posts, etc.

  • Work with the ILL/DD manager to provide high quality, comprehensive document delivery to law school faculty and the Law Library’s RA program, as well as providing ILL/DD services to law students, law journals,  and off-campus users.

  • Prepare and maintain research guides and procedural documentation.
  • Perform basic reference service from the Circulation Desk.
  • Implement Controlled Digital Lending in the Law Library.
  • Contribute to the profession and represent the UCLA Law Library in the academic, scholarly, and professional community.
