Miami Dade College, Kendall Campus is now accepting applications for Lead Academic Technologist, MDC Online. The Lead Academic Technologist provides customized support to faculty and staff across the disciplines in the area of academic technologies. This position is responsible for researching, testing, and implementing new academic technologies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, administrates, and pilots new academic technologies and processes
  • Collects and disseminates information pertaining to best practices in educational assessment, curriculum development, and technology-infused innovations
  • Provides technical troubleshooting assistance to faculty
  • Recommends technological options and solutions to faculty that meet specific course delivery needs
  • Assists with the implementation of end-user support for various educational technologies
  • Conducts seminars, workshops and trainings on various educational technology related topics
  • Develops support and training materials in various IT systems and tools, including user documentation, process improvements, or system design requirements
  • Collects and reports usage statistics of various technology tools and systems and recommends strategies to increase utilization

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field and seven (7) years of progressive experience in managing and supporting educational technologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Ability to train others effectively with a positive and motivating attitude
  • Knowledge of learning theories, instructional design models, and assessment and evaluation methods
  • Knowledge of Microsoft (Windows, Office 365) technologies, Adobe Creative Suite, Learning Management
  • System, assessment, classroom technologies, and/or other technologies commonly used in higher education
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills Ability to research, troubleshoot various academic/information technology systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels, including academic leaders and faculty as well as those struggle to acquire technological learning/teaching competencies
  • Ability to work with multiple deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment Ability to develop and write technical documentation, guidelines, and training materials
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
