Job Description

Missouri Western State University invites an experienced Desktop Administrator to join our Technology Services Team. The Desktop Administrator manages and maintains all endpoint management and endpoint protection systems, assists with information security incident response, and provides elevated support for technical support staff, faculty, staff, and students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Responsible for configuration, maintenance, and operation of desktop and endpoint management software.
  • Responsible for configuration, maintenance, and operation of endpoint protection software.
  • Implements and maintains security standards and policies for university managed endpoints.
  • Coordinates and implements endpoint security configurations in collaboration with the Information Security Officer.
  • Performs vulnerability scanning and security risk assessments of university managed endpoint devices.
  • Assists with information security incident response under the direction of the Information Security Officer.
  • Assists technology support staff when necessary in both workload and elevated support.
  • Cross-trains technology support staff as necessary to provide systems support redundancy.
  • Develops documentation of systems, procedures, and policies.
  • Maintains confidentiality, integrity and availability of University information resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • In-depth knowledge of computer and network systems.
  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and a professional demeanor.
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree
  • This position requires the completion of some college coursework in Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Must have one to three years of experience of providing systems support.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
Preferred Qualifications

Industry certifications are preferred.

Physical Demands
  • General office and indoor conditions.
  • Position requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force on rare occasions.
  • Requires the ability to climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and reach.
  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
  • Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
