UMKC's Division of External Relations and Constituent Engagement (ERCE) builds relationships through meaningful engagement and extraordinary moments. As the university’s portal for external relations and outreach, our team:
  • forges partnerships and engagement opportunities with community organizations, businesses, and neighborhood associations;
  • plans and executes campus-wide special and signature events;
  • serves as the university’s liaison to elected officials, civic leaders and government dignitaries;
  • manages advisory and leadership boards that advocate and work on behalf of UMKC.

Job Description

External Relations and Constituent Engagement (ERCE) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a Senior Office Support Assistant. ERCE works with a variety of external constituents to engage them with the campus and with internal groups to foster community connections.

This position will predominantly provide staff support to the Associate Vice Chancellor of External Relations and Director of External Relations. Day-to-day activities consist of supporting our divisional work with various constituent groups, local legislators, and community partners. The division is a fast-paced, fun, team-oriented work environment that values customer service and flexibility.

Job Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Provide day-to-day staff support to the Associate Vice Chancellor External Relations and Director of External Relations
  • Maintain Board of Trustee records, distribution lists, rosters.
  • Organize and assist with planning Board, committee and task force meetings (scheduling, reservations, planning and coordination of services).
  • Maintain the Associate Vice Chancellor’s day-to-day calendar.
  • Prepare and organize mailings.
  • Work with managers and staff in the division to assist as needed.
  • Other duties will be assigned for divisional work as needed.
  • This position may require infrequent evening and/or weekend hours for certain meetings/events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, punctuality, grammar and proofreading skills and the ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision to complete projects and tasks.

Must be Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Experience with various constituent groups and organizing events is a plus.

Full Time/Part Time

This is a full time, benefit eligible position. Hours M-F 8:00AM-5:00PM.

Salary

Up to $24.50/hr, commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
