Be yourself and start your career here. Help us build a better Brockport! Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for a Programmer Analyst. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research and Analysis, the Programmer Analyst will provide foundation and development for a cross-organizational decisional support framework that can be used internally by IRA personnel, and by administrative offices, to retrieve business information that will assist in the College's strategic objectives. The person in this role will focus on the collection and interpretation of data derived from institutional research studies conducted to provide a basis for administrative decision-making. An institutional research program ordinarily encompasses studies of students, faculty, staff, curricula, enrollment, finance, and other areas of higher education in an effort to generate information such as unit costs, class size, staff workload, institutional quality, and student success. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in statistics or related, quantitative, research-intensive field by the time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Minimum of one year work-related experience in higher education or a social science field performing statistical analyses. Will also consider such work experience in industry, non-profit, or government settings.
  • Minimum of one year experience with querying databases or other data sources.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing complex analyses to identify patterns and predict outcomes.
  • High technical skills and advanced practical experience with data management, analysis, and reporting software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly a demonstrated ability to distill and convey research findings clearly to multiple audiences.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in statistics or related, quantitative, research-intensive field by the time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Three or more years of work-related experience in higher education or a social science field performing statistical analyses using statistical software (e.g. SAS, SPSS). Will also consider such work experience in industry, non-profit, or government settings.
  • Three or more years of experience with querying databases or other data sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects; work both as part of a team and independently; ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines; all while maintaining the highest standard of research.
  • Broad understanding and current knowledge of enrollment trends and issues in higher education.
  • Experience with business intelligence solutions (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Ellucian Banner etc.)
  • Knowledge of survey design and software (e.g. Qualtrics).
    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm
    Salary and Benefits: Minimum Salary is $55,922. May be benefits eligible; more information at Careers@Brockport. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
