Institution Description
Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) is a division of the Johns Hopkins University’s Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. As part of the nation’s first research university, AAP offers high-quality master’s degrees and certificate programs at its Washington, D.C., Center, at JHU’s Homewood Campus in Baltimore, Maryland, and online. AAP enrolls almost 6,000 students each academic year in over 45 programs and distinguishes itself through its intensive instructional assistance, selective admissions, and 60 dedicated full-time faculty. Position description
The Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) division seeks non-tenure-track adjunct faculty to teach courses within the MA in Film and Media. Of particular interest are candidates who have experience engaging students from diverse backgrounds. We are looking for faculty who can teach the following course:

Foundations of Immersive Storytelling: Theory & Practice - 455.610
This introductory course will provide students with foundational tools for making compelling VR/AR narrative experiences. Students will learn various techniques that apply to the range of immersive experiences in storytelling. The class will guide students as they develop their own initial prototypes in support of a VR/AR narrative project.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • An advanced degree in any relevant field, with a master’s degree at minimum.
  • At least three years of professional work experience within the Film and Media field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A terminal degree in a relevant field related to Film and Media.
  • 1-3 years of graduate-level teaching experience.
  • Experience in developing graduate courses (helpful but not necessary).
  • Experience in one or more of the following preferred:
    • Virtual Productions
    • Unreal Engine
    • Motion Capture
    • Game Design and Development
    • 3D Modeling and Animation
    • Stop Motion
    • VFX
    • 3D Sound
    • Immersive Technologies
    • Other Relevant Categories

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
