Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach / Athletics Operations and Facilities Coordinator



Job Description:

The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach/Athletics Operations and Facilities Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month staff position reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics. This position is part of the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant.

The duties for the Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach include all aspects of assisting with strength training programs for 24 varsity sports and assisting with directing a 13,000 square foot fitness center. The duties for the Athletic Operations and Facilities Coordinator include all aspects of assisting with the scheduling and operations of the athletic facilities, primarily the 160,000 square foot Duchossois Athletic and Recreation Center, as well as the operations of all home competitions.

Essential Functions:

Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach (60%)
  • Schedule and supervise training sessions for student athletes during traditional and non-traditional seasons

  • Develop summer training programs for assigned teams in conjunction with the sport coaching staff

  • Maintain records on strength programs for assigned teams and specific individual workouts of each student

  • Maintenance of strength training equipment

  • Assist with facility coverage during academic breaks

  • Other duties as assigned

Athletic Operations and Facilities Coordinator (40%)
  • Assist with managing and assessing facility scheduling requests

  • Assist with the coordination of facility rental requests

  • Assist with coordinating event management duties

  • Serve as the point of contact for officials for home contests

  • Assist with communication with public safety regarding home contests and athletic facilities

  • Assist with the oversight of the work study students/building concierges

  • Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, with regular night and weekend hours.

Minimum Pay: $35,600 - Pay Commensurate with Experience

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is required.

  • Strong commitment toward adhering to the policies and guidelines of Washington and Lee’s Physical Education and Athletics Department, NCAA, and ODAC.

  • An emphasis in exercise science, exercise physiology, physical education, or a Masters degree in a related field is preferred.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strength and conditioning certification. CSCS certification from the NSCA is preferred. It is acceptable for the selected candidate to have the prerequisites and be preparing to take the CSCS exam.

  • Certified in First Aid and CPR.

Physical Requirements:
  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.

Working Conditions: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.

Types of Work: Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
