Position Summary

As a member of Campus Technology Services team, this individual will serve as technologist with primary responsibility for managing audio-visual equipment replacement, maintenance cycle and repair, equipment procurement, and departmental asset management documentation. Leadership role in campus renovation projects to include design, consultation, facility preparation, installation, and project management. Further, this position serves as backup support to other Media Services areas.

Major Responsibilities
  • Performs daily repair and maintenance of audio-visual equipment and installed systems for Campus Technology Services’ academic supported spaces.
  • Performs installation of new and updated audio-visual systems for Campus Technology Services’ academic supported spaces.
  • Responds to audio-visual related trouble tickets and repair calls from The Help Center.
  • Technical input for assigned campus projects to include design, consultation, facility preparation, installation, and project management. May include coordination with Facilities Operations and Services, Facilities Planning Design and Construction, Registrar, Consultants, Term and General Contractors.
  • Responsible for configuring and programming of Crestron control systems used in Campus Technology Services’ academic supported spaces.
  • Responsible for equipment procurement within the Media Services area of support and responsibility. This includes purchases for new construction, equipment replacement, online hardware orders, area supplies and equipment repairs.
  • Provide backup support and assistance to other Media Services areas as needed. Participate in area cross-training programs in preparation of such an occasion.
  • On occasion, may need to work an evening or weekend to provide technology support at approved events.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
  • Reports to Sr Media Services Specialist, Campus Technology Services.
  • Supervises student and temporary support staff employees, as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree and three years’ audio-visual service and support experience in audio-video technologies OR Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, educational technology, communications or related field OR In lieu of degree five years’ experience working as an audio-visual integrator; to include installing or designing audio-visual systems, and configuring or programming control systems such as Crestron, Extron or AMX .
  • Evidence of technical troubleshooting skills in audio-visual technologies.
  • Experience presenting and exchanging technical information with other technicians and working with customers using technology equipment, including evidence of good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and tasks and following through to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must be able perform work that requires lifting up to 30 pounds, reaching, bending, kneeling, crawling, or climbing into work spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • In-depth and broad knowledge of computing technologies, audio/visual equipment, or audio/visual control systems.
  • Familiarity with Crestron control systems, asset tracking software, and/or certifications in the audio-visual field.
  • AVXIA certification of CTS, CTS -D or CTS -I.
