Assistant Professor of Biology: Ecology

Florida Southern College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology position to begin in August 2023. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in introductory biology, environmental issues, ecology, and other courses that support a diverse student body in the biology and environmental studies majors. The area of research specialization is open, although the successful candidate will have a record of mentoring undergraduate research. In addition to establishing an active research program, the successful candidate will be expected to advise a diverse population aspiring to careers in biology and related fields.

A complete application consists of a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy (up to 1000 words), research statement involving undergraduate students (up to 1000 words), names and contact information of three referees, and graduate transcripts.

Qualified candidates will have completed a Ph.D. degree in biology, ecology, environmental studies, or related fields and have strong credentials teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching and be skilled in methods of engaged learning, the use of instructional technology, and directing original undergraduate research. In addition, FSC faculty members participate effectively in advising, committee work, and other activities supporting FSC's teaching and learning community.
