POSITION SUMMARY

The position directs and leads the Office of Residential Community Living; oversees the administration and management of the housing/room selection process and assignments, and community living programs; directs operations and oversees budget; sets goals and implements living-learning objectives to support the residential community. The position develops a strategic vision and plan to enhance the living-learning environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee key administrative housing operations and physical aspects of the six residence halls and administers the StarRez room selection process, assignments, and reporting system.

Administer the key access and control systems and coordinate the safety and security systems.

Process housing and meal plan charges in cooperation with Sodexo and the Business Office; work closely with the university's food service provider, Sodexo and create housing and meal plan reports in a timely manner.

Select, supervise, train, and oversee Residential Community Advisors (12-16) and Graduate Assistant Hall Directors (1-2); Oversee and serve as a member of the Administrator-On-Call (AOC) team for all on-campus housing facilities.

Oversee residential responsibilities of summer housing and conferences including staff and student support and supervision.

Serve as the main liaison with the Facilities Department and Public Safety and oversee the implementation of safety and security protocols (fire and safety systems assessment, safety education programs, emergency drills).

Coordinate the opening and closing of the residence halls and ensure access systems are secured and closing inspections are completed.

Develop and implement the strategic initiatives for the Office of Residential Community Living including the design and implementation of student development programs (personal, spiritual, professional, social, and ethical).

Promote and support resident students from diverse backgrounds and identities.

Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, standards, and local, state, and federal laws.

Manage budgets and allocate resources for services and programs that support the community living learning environment.

Serve as a member or chair of designated university committees; represent the university at professional conferences, and local and regional meetings.

Serve as a liaison for the following collaborative efforts: CARE Team, New Student Orientation, Career

Services, Alcohol and Drug Education, Campus Activity Board, Student Government Association, Student Activities, International Engagement and Advising, Admissions Office, and the Athletic Department.

All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in student Personnel, Counseling, Education, College Student Personnel, Business Administration or related field.

Three to five years of experience as a manager, director, associate or assistant director in a college living-learning residential community.

Must be knowledgeable of the StarRez student housing assignment and contract system.

Must be customer service oriented and student focused.

Experience supervising professional and para-professional staff members.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills as demonstrated by application materials and interview process.

Familiar with trends in higher education and the use of technology.

Computer proficient with the ability to enhance the use of technology and other resources to meet students' needs.

Knowledge of legal issues related to collegiate residential living.

Ability to develop and deliver effective personal, social, spiritual, career and student development programs to individuals and groups.

Ability to maintain confidential information (Title IX, FERPA, HIPAA).

Valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and experience using the Maxient software.

Experience at a mid-sized, faith-based institution.

Tuition Benefit

After 1 year of continuous full‐time service, employees are eligible to enroll in STU’s bachelor and master courses, tuition‐free. The program will cover a maximum timeframe of 125% of credit hours attempted toward the degree program. Employees may enroll in STU’s doctoral program, with a 40% tuition discount, under the same conditions.
