Senior Director for Strategic Infrastructure & Development

Under the direction of the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and in close partnership with the university’s facilities and finance departments, the Senior Director for Strategic Infrastructure & Development will focus on the strategic vision for MSU Denver’s campus development and initiate early ideas to executable and fundable concepts. This will be in close collaboration with subject matter experts across the university to describe how existing solutions can be scaled and funded to advance MSU Denver’s academic, research, and community service missions. This includes securing innovative funding through potential real estate development, campus infrastructure partnerships, collaboration with existing Auraria campus institutions, as well as other visionary means to pursue the university mission and meet the needs of the campus. The Senior Director will provide the university’s perspective in the greater Auraria shared campus master planning process. This person will partner with the Campus Planner to develop the university’s master plan in a way that advances the university’s mission while building out the campus to blend into Denver’s urban downtown setting.

The ideal candidate would be a solutions-oriented team player who can work across a broad spectrum of internal and external constituents to achieve results and lead cross-functional development efforts (i.e. steering committees, task forces, working groups, etc) as assigned by the CSO or president and represent the university to external consultants.

Current projects being explored or developed include: the Health Institute (simulation labs and tower), the Classroom to Career Hub, and housing. Overall, the Senior Director will drive inclusive design, decision-making, and development that ensures participation and coordination among multiple internal and external MSU Denver constituencies and stakeholders.

· Ability to consult with public and private partners, donors, government agencies and foundations.

· Monitors progress of the university’s strategic objectives associated with land use and infrastructure development

· Be a future-focused agent of change

· Work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate input is gathered when proposing development projects, including all levels of university administration, senior leaders, faculty, and staff on a variety of topics

· Possess the capability to establish and continually manage expectations with all project partners

· Capable of operating in an environment where many open questions do not have a definitive answer and where you are the one inventing and implementing processes to scale the work.

· Create and propose new strategies and plans to continually engage external partners in compelling ways that increase commitment and ultimately support for priorities

· Assist with preparing investment presentations and offering memoranda for each pursuit that include detailed business plans that include annual operating plans, financial forecasts and strategic and academic plan impact

· Passionate about MSU Denver’s mission

· Creative and open minded

· Well-versed in MSU Denver’s role in the greater Denver community

· Skilled in coordinating the efforts of the array of real estate, financial, legal, and construction consultants and contractors at all phases of project decision, design, and development

·An inclusive leader who invites, leverages, and balances the brilliance and expertise of diverse stakeholder communities while driving project decision making and development.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study and at least 7 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified, or superior expertise as demonstrated through extensive relevant experience in leading successful development projects to completion
  • Proven experience with public-private partnerships and local and state government coordination and compliance
  • Experienced in urban or campus planning
  • Experience creating vision and business plans for real estate development and management
  • Outstanding business and financial analytics acumen
  • Have strong organizational skills and be detail oriented
  • Demonstrated project leadership skills
  • Be a skilled communicator and decision-framer
Salary for Announcement
The starting salary range for this position is $113,700 - $151,700 .

Pay Grade:24
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, training, and qualifications.
