(Job #525447) Administrator 1, Assistant Director for Off Campus Student Services. Salary Range: $3,388 - $11,146 monthly. Hiring Range: $3,388 - $7,000. This position is an Administrator 1 in the California State University Management Personnel Plan (MPP). Under this plan, incumbents are subject to normal management reviews and serve at the pleasure of the University President. Position Summary: The Assistant Director for Off Campus Services is a key member of the Housing and Residence Life staff and manages the Off Campus Services Office having oversight for staff and guiding the Housing and Residence Life professional staff in five general areas including: (1) helping current students transition from the on-campus to off-campus housing market, (2) working with students and community members to develop connections and advocate for the housing needs of students, (3) work with property managers and landlords to create greater access to housing for students, (4) supporting faculty and staff in finding off campus housing, and (5) managing logistics for temporary bridge housing and housing options off campus managed by Cal Poly Humboldt. This position reports to the Executive Director for Auxiliary Operations and works independently under general supervision. This Assistant Director supervises the Off Campus Housing Liaison, Student Assistants in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

65% Provides advocacy and support for HSU students, faculty and staff seeking housing off campus
  • Develops and maintains a database of property managers and landlords in the greater Arcata area
  • Develops and maintains a database of students who need help finding access to housing in the greater Arcata area
  • Assessment of off-campus student needs and community concerns
  • Develop an active, on-going campaign to support and educate students about off-campus housing
  • Work with the transportation committee at the City of Arcata to develop bus routes that best support student transportation needs
  • Work with Cal Poly Humboldt transportation services to ensure shuttles and campus provided transportation is working for students
  • Work with local bridge housing owners to ensure proper communication and coordination is in place to meet the needs of students
  • Work with local community agencies to develop relationships and support to help students find access to housing
  • Actively work to engage students and community members in support of the Equity Arcata initiative

25% Administrative
  • Provide day to day coordination and response to student, faculty and staff questions regarding access to housing off campus
  • Meet with students to understand and support their needs regarding off campus housing
  • Provide programming and resources for students interesting in off-campus housing
  • Develop and maintain a web presence for Off Campus Services related information and initiatives
  • Manage logistics for campus bridge housing and housing managed by Cal Poly Humboldt off campus

5% Assessment and Reporting
  • Provide monthly reports and data regarding student needs and off-campus housing options
  • Maintains data on occupancy and rates for local community housing (Arcata, Eureka, McKinleyville)

5% Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Associated with this Position Include:
  • Knowledge of the local housing market in the greater Arcata area
    Knowledge of tenant / landlord laws
    Knowledge of local community resources for housing
    Ability to provide advice to landlords, students, faculty and staff regarding the local real estate market (Real Estate License Preferred)
    Ability to advocate for student housing needs
    Ability to support faculty and staff in finding off campus housing
    Strong written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • Experience working with developers and property managers
  • Active real estate license preferred
