Type of Position: Part-time Temporary, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: varies, 12 hours per week

Pay Range: $15.00-18.75 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Pay Grade: 50.50

Benefits Category: Limited benefits



Position Summary: Laboratory Technician to assist with the operation of the Metal Fabrication/Welding Technology program with emphasis on maintenance of lab areas and equipment, ordering of program supplies and preparation of class materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Current valid driver license
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication fields safety
  • Ability to perform basic related service and maintenance operations
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training in MFAB/welding/safety related areas
  • Two years of MFAB/welding/ work experience

    Position Details - Job duties include but are not limited to:

    Assist MFAB instructors with preparing materials for classes Performance is acceptable when:

    a. Metal is processed in time for classes

    b. Unload metal deliveries and process

    c. Metals are prepared to the correct dimensions

    Assist with cleaning and maintaining welding and machining laboratories Performance is acceptable when:

    a. Floors are kept clear of tripping hazards

    b. Fabricate or repair non-critical equipment for labs

    c. Equipment cleaned on regular basis

    Assist MFAB instructors with maintaining an electrode inventory Performance is acceptable when:

    a. Restocks electrodes in labs

    b. Communicates with Chair when electrode quantities require ordering

    c. Organizes and put away electrodes when received by the college

    Assist MFAB instructors when possible with students Performance is acceptable when:

    a. As needed, assist MFAB instructors with lab or testing activities

    b. Communicates with MFAB instructors about metal and materials needed for classes

    c. Works as support for the MFAB department
