Job Description:

The Assistant Comptroller for Financial Reporting is responsible for the accounting, reporting and reviewing of endowment investments and grants received by the College. This area includes review of donations, allocations of income, and accounting for investments related to the endowment fund. Review, reconcile, report and compliance verification of all federal financial aid funds and outside grants received by the College. This area also includes review of federal regulations and completion of the College's tax return.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitors all College and Federal financial aid accounting policies and ensures the College is in timely and accurate compliance.
  2. Ensures the complete, accurate accounting and reporting (monthly, quarterly, annually) of all financial records for the College endowment fund and all federal grant programs.
  3. Unitizes and manages distribution of endowment unitized funds and earnings to appropriate restricted and unrestricted accounts.
  4. Conducts review of revenue and expenditures, prepares required financial data and report, and assures proper accounting transactions are made in support of the College's endowment and financial aid fund management.
  5. Reviews the monthly endowment investment statements for accuracy and compliance with College investment guides.
  6. Prepares required analysis and processes required accounting transactions for the endowment investment accounts, endowment fund and restricted grants, including preparation of excel spreadsheets and reconciliation with the general ledger.
  7. Resolves problems relative to federal financial aid funds in conjunction with the Bursar's and Financial Aid Office.
  8. In conjunction with Institutional Advancement, prepares required financial data, analysis and annual reports associated with the endowment fund including stewardship reports and NACUBO reporting.
  9. Coordinates the College's operating funds, and maintains a positive cash flow.
  10. Preparation of the College's annual tax filing in conjunction with the auditors.
  11. Preparation of the College's annual and quarterly financial statements in conjunction with the Comptroller.
  12. Annual W2 processing and quarterly federal and state tax filings.
  13. Advises other College departments regarding compliance with College policies and federal regulations. Identifies irregularities and works in conjunction with other departments to ensure corrections are made.
  14. Performs monthly billing for State and Federal Grants.
  15. Requests federal funds electronically and request transfers within the compliance time frame
  16. Completes excel spreadsheets, and invoicing for grants, compiles journal entries and inputs into the Ellucian Banner System.
  17. Completes third party tuition revenue billing in conjunction with the Registrar's Office.
  18. Oversees Accounts Payable and Payroll. Supervises the Payroll Accountant, Payroll Coordinator, Accountant, and Accounts Payable Coordinator.
  19. Performs other responsibilities and serves on committees as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Financial Reporting and Comptroller.



Requirements:

  1. B.S. in Accounting or related business field
  2. CPA license
  3. Minimum of three years' experience in accounting related field
  4. Expertise with Excel and Microsoft Word
  5. Experience in fund accounting, federal financial aid and grant accounting preferred
  6. Managerial experience preferred
  7. Experience with Ellucian Banner preferred

The College retains the right to make decisions about visa sponsorship that support the College's business and academic needs, including providing visa sponsorship for only certain academic titles. Visa sponsorships are based solely on the needs of the College and at the sole discretion of the College.

The College of Saint Rose participates in E-Verify.
