Position Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Business Continuity Management (BCM), the Business Continuity Sr. Analyst is responsible for leading and coordinating business continuity management efforts for individual business and academic units across the university (main and regional) and medical center.  This position will have the knowledge and understanding to lead teams through the overall business continuity management life-cycle.    Customers will view this role as the subject matter expert while leading and guiding them through the development and maintenance aspect of the process to yield a viable plan.  As a trusted partner, they will assist in helping teams to identify critical functions, processes, and single-point-of-failures to document strategies and processes and reference procedures to ensure the continuance of critical operations. 

 

 

 

To assist in advancing business continuity efforts, the Business Continuity Sr. Analyst facilitates all meetings related to the business continuity management life cycle including business impact analysis (BIA), risk assessment, strategy development, and plan development. This role will implement and ensure teams maintain business continuity plans while being responsible for the logistics to schedule and deliver business continuity plan presentations, relevant training, and exercises.

 

 

 

The ideal candidate will create and perform business continuity plan exercises and track the completion of audit findings to an exercise.  Additionally, the candidate will be an administrator of the enterprise wide BCM tool. This position stays current with all business continuity industry standards (ISO 22301), best practices, and emerging trends.

 

 

 

To achieve excellence, this role will collaborate with multiple leaders across the university and medical center to implement a business continuity steering committee. In addition, the role will gain stakeholder engagement to create business continuity plans, facilitate regular planning meetings and shepherd units and their employees through the entire planning life cycle. Lastly, this position will perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Required:

 

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four (4) years of direct experience leading the creation of continuity plans; demonstrated background in business continuity methodology, best practices, industry standards (ISO 22301), planning & plan creation, and plan exercise.

 

 

 

Desired:

 

Five to eight (5-8) years direct experience creating continuity plans for large complex organizations; Business Continuity Management certification (CBCP); experience in higher education; excellent facilitation, communication, organizational & human relations skills; proven track record as a proactive leader with strong management skills; ability to partner with others to develop creative solutions & approaches; knowledge or experience in IT Disaster Recovery planning, emergency response, risk management, and crisis management.

 


Key Responsibilities  

20% - Delivers this business continuity plan (BCP) presentations and provides training; keeps current with Business Continuity industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends; creates, executes, and audits exercises.

40% - Performs all necessary logistics to schedule, facilitate, and follow-up from meetings; document meeting minutes, BIA, Risk Assessments, and Planning results, and other planning session information; monitors, tracks, and reports on all progress; performs data entry into the business continuity management software.

40% - Collaborates directly with individual business and academic units across the university and the OSUWMC to create business continuity plans; facilitates regular planning meetings and shepherd units and their staff through the entire planning life cycle.
