Position Overview

Starting Salary Range is $54,101 -$62,211. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience.

The Title IX Coordinator works closely with Student Affairs, Human Resources, Academic Affairs, Athletics, and legal counsel to oversee the College's compliance efforts concerning Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, as well as other laws and rules relating to sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual assault and related policy violations on campus (e.g., Violence Against Women's Act - VAWA, Clery Act, Campus SaVe, Title VI, Title VII).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and College regulatory and governing standards, including but not limited to laws, regulations, policies and procedures, directives, etc. (i.e., Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Clery Act, Campus SaVe, Title Vi, Title VII, etc.).
  • Develop, facilitate, monitor, oversee and assess compliance programs.

  • Education / Training
  • Develop, implement, coordinate and assess campus-wide programs, initiatives and training designed to educate and support students and employees on sexual misconduct prevention as required by state and federal regulation. This may include, but is not limited to, information pertaining to student and employee rights and reporting responsibilities, support services, College policy, applicable disciplinary actions, grievance procedures, confidential resources, etc.
  • Collaborate with offices across the College to provide educational information, resources and activities/events related to Title IX awareness and prevention programs (e.g., Student Affairs - new student orientation, HR - new hire training, Instruction, Athletics, Basic Needs, etc.).
  • Work with various constituent groups on and off campus to provide prevention activities and foster community partners for support.
  • Coordinate training for the College's Title IX Team. Ensure investigators, adjudicators and those involved with processing Title IX complaints are adequately trained in compliance with Title IX regulations.

  • State & Federal Reporting (Including Clery)
  • Create reports and related summaries for Title IX and related areas (e.g., THECB, Clery Act, etc.).

  • Investigation / Case Management
  • Oversee, coordinate and ensure investigations of reports and complaints of sexual misconduct are adequate, reliable, timely, confidential and impartial.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Review initial complaints/reports of sexual misconduct
  • Meet with parties to provide information on the process, answer questions, share available resources
  • If applicable, assign tasks and supervise those responsible for direct work in investigations.
  • Lead the Title IX case management; develop a “case management plan” for each report
  • Coordinate the College's efforts related to interim safety accommodations for participants
  • Assist investigators with creation of summary reports. Per policy, disseminate findings with the appropriate participants and supervisors.
  • Follow up with parties regarding implementation of recommendations or sanctions
  • If an investigation is not applicable, refer participants to other resources.

  • Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities associated with College's Title IX compliance obligations.
  • Act as Chair of the Title IX Team.
  • Identify and develop responses to patterns or systems that affect campus climate related to sexual misconduct. Consider problems related to complaints and determine whether campus-wide resources should be adopted in response, including review and revision of the College's sexual misconduct policies, increased monitoring, supervision or security at locations where sexual misconduct is reported to occur, and increased education and prevention efforts to targeted populations.
  • Collaborate with leadership and campus constituencies to disseminate information, redesign processes, and support the College's investigative processes; collaborate and coordinate with the Title IX Team and across the institution to support the College's overlapping compliance needs and responsibilities. This includes maintaining information on the website, handbooks, the College Catalog and other resources available to the campus community.
  • Build and support community partnerships to provide services and education to the campus community.
  • Serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  • Notify the Security Department of reported Clery Act crimes or those that may be subject to Clery Act required emergency notification.
  • Maintain record keeping; understand data management processes, ensure appropriate data is collected and retain records according to retention guidelines.
  • Coordinate the development, administration and processing of the climate assessment and implementation of actions devised after analysis of the survey results.
  • Ensure information related to sexual misconduct is up-to-date, accurate and that the information is consistent across the various distribution methods (e.g., College website, brochures, flyers, catalog, handbook, etc.).
  • Oversee and manage the Title IX website for the College.
  • Manage cases in Maxient.
  • Serve as the internal consultant and subject matter expert on Title IX and related topics.
  • Prepare and manage department budget.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information and communications.

    Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Education - Bachelor's (or higher) degree
  • Professional Experience - One (1) year of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified above.
  • Subject Matter Expertise - Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies and practices specific to Title IX and sexual misconduct. Knowledge of current and emerging legislation, issues, and trends appropriate to the position.
  • Programming - Experience in creation and delivery of programming to a diverse audience.
  • Leadership - Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Project Management - Experience overseeing projects. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Communication - Experience with oral communication including presentations to varied audiences (e.g., briefings to small businesses, student orientations, or employee training sessions) in multiple media (e.g., PowerPoint). Experience with written communication including technical materials (e.g., summary reports, notifications) and materials for public audiences (e.g., brochures, web content).
  • Listening - Exceptional listening skills are required. Ability to provide effective and appropriate advice to all levels within the college community. Operate calmly and effectively under stressful conditions and possess conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.
  • Complex Task Management - Experience managing simultaneous and time-sensitive tasks that may have high criticality of error.
  • Teamwork - Experience with committees and teams to achieve tasks and projects. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Technology - Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Preferred:
    • Master's (or higher) degree
    • Trauma Sensitivity - Trauma-informed training
