Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution; Doctorate Degree preferred.

Experience:

Ten (10) years of professional experience in a leadership position in the private, public, or academic sector.

Inspiring leader who can demonstrate enthusiasm for the mission of Luzerne County Community College and inspire both employees and students to embrace the goals of the College; effective leader who can develop and execute strategic plans that strengthen the financial position of the College and improve educational experience for students; responsive leader who can respond to the direction of the Board of Trustees through open and transparent communication; engaging leader who can build consensus among diverse groups to advance constructive change to the College’s policies and procedures; committed leader who continues to examine emerging educational, economic and community trends and can translate those trends into action plans that improve the recruitment and retention of students; fair leader who can ensure the College is an inclusive environment that promotes diversity and fairness for all; agile leader who can excel in managing multiple tasks across many disciplines including academic affairs, student affairs, fundraising, government relations, and corporate engagement; experienced leader who has a comprehensive understanding of Pennsylvania’s higher education system, its funding sources and governing regulations; ethical leader who can uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and preserve the public reputation of the College.

Responsibilities:

Serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the College and Administrative Officer of the Board of Trustees; Board of Trustees responsible for organization, administration, and leadership of the College; recommends policy to the Board of Trustees on all matters affecting the College including all additions or changes in personnel and in personnel policies; submit an annual budget to the Board of Trustees, administering the budget which shall include funds received from any source and ensure fiscal stability of the College; revise and update the College’s Master Plan and Strategic Plan; maintain active and consistent presence in community to foster the College’s relationships with partners and friends in the community; communicates well with students and encourages an atmosphere that promotes support for student success and responsiveness to student concerns, ensures student safety; works effectively with business leaders, and develops and advances partnership with business and industry to assure responsiveness to workforce development and economic needs; works effectively with business, community, Foundation Board and Alumni for the purpose of raising funds for endowments and capital projects and to support the Capital Campaign; works effectively with municipal, state and federal legislators to garner support for funding, policy and other initiatives that benefit Luzerne County Community College.
