The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), an internationally renowned college of art and design, business and technology, of the State University of New York, invites applications for adjunct faculty opportunities in the Science and Mathematics Department, within the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Job Description:

The Department of Science and Math is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions in the sciences. Successful candidates will have backgrounds in the natural sciences including biology, biochemistry, chemistry, earth science, ecology, materials science, nutrition, and physics.

Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades in a timely manner. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have earned a master's degree in a scientific discipline  plus 30 graduate credits or a PHD in a scientific discipline.
  • College level teaching experience.

MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND WORKING REQUIREMENTS:

This position will be required to continuously read and comprehend, occasionally perform calculations, constantly verbally communicate, frequently analyze, and constantly write. The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time position, adjunct teaching position beginning in Fall 2023. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will keep this posting open to create a pool of candidates for potential future adjunct assignments. The department will contact applicants who qualifications fit our programmatic needs.

The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. The hourly rate and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience.
Starting Rate: $77.43 per hour with step increments per Salary Schedule 97, after one year of service and annually thereafter.
