Director-Business Operations (Hybrid)-School of Electrical and Computer Engineering

The ECE Director of Operations position is complex and challenging with the Georgia Tech ECE program being the largest in the country. The school has approximately 2,600 students with an annual budget of $100M. The role provides support to more than 110 faculty and more than 80 staff members spread across 11 different buildings. Also responsible for operational support to a wide range of laboratories with approximately 250,000 sq. feet of space from basic computational computer labs to complex microelectronics labs involving wet processes and toxic gases. The ECE Director of Operations has four broad areas of responsibility: oversight of financial operations within the school; oversight of human resources functions within the school oversight of research administration; and oversight of facilities operations and space allocation within the school. There are four direct reports that head up each of these areas. These direct reports need guidance and oversight in the performance of their duties by someone with experience in the respective areas. This position serves as the Chief of Staff and righthand administrator to the School Chair.
 Other duties performed within ECE are:
• Provide cost management oversight of the school's $35M+ state budget
• Provide cost management oversight of the school's unrestricted Foundation funds
• Provide support to the ECE Development team on fundraising proposals
• Provide counsel and mentoring to the Director of the Interdisciplinary Design Commons Makerspace
• Provide funding as needed to the staff of the instructional labs in ECE; provide cost management reporting and general         guidance as required
• Attend ECE External Advisory Board meetings to address financial and operational issues
• Participate in campus level working groups and committees

Skills: This job requires advanced expertise in the application of accounting principles and practices including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS); especially as they apply in a research university environment.   This includes proficiency in use and management of financial related software systems as well as leadership, organization and communications skills.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Six to eight years of job related experience

Salary range: $92k-$130K

Location: Hybrid (Atlanta, GA)

Job grade: A12
