Job Summary
 The Education Program Officer provides a wide range of analytical and programmatic support for the Foundation’s Education Team. This position helps to implement new scholarship initiatives; tracks grantmaking from application to reporting; develops and maintains relationships with grantees and educational partners; monitors and reports on developments within fields of interest; and supports planning and implementation of special programs, projects, and events.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with implementation of new scholarship programs and vetting potential partners
  • Respond to inquiries and provide direction to interested applicants
  • Assists the Director of Education in managing program evaluation, grant agreements, and grant amendments. 
  • Coordinate and participate in calls, meetings, and site visits.
  • Perform due diligence on grant requests and reports.
  • Prepare request summaries and present funding recommendations.
  • Develop grant agreements and other grant-related communications.
  • Track progress, troubleshoot problems, and support grantee success.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of material for meetings, events, and travel.
  • Develop and evaluate scholarship-related grantmaking strategies and impact.
  • Research and synthesize information related to grants, legislation impacting scholarship providers, and areas of interest.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the non-profit, or higher education sectors required.
  • Understanding of scholarship programs and financial aid processes desirable.
  • Experience with project management, analysis, and communications. 
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information.
  • Highly professional and show discretion dealing with confidential information.
  • Flexible with the ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Strong technology skills - ability to use multiple software packages, including Microsoft Office Suite, and general office equipment (e.g., copier, fax, phone system).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours/overtime when the need arises
  • Receptive to feedback.
  • Enjoy and excel at working as part of a team.
  • Passion for the Foundation’s mission.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and change in a dynamic and professional setting.
  • Tracks progress, troubleshoots problems and supports grantee success.
  • Performs due diligence on grant requests and reports.
  • Valid driver’s license.

 

 

Work Environment

Work is primarily conducted in-person in a typical office environment between the hours of 

 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tasks involve continuous sitting and constant use of hand/finger dexterity, hearing, and typing. Time is also spent out in the community meeting with organizations and exploring topics of interest. Regular travel by personal vehicle is required.
