Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the School of Pharmacy (SoP) HR Manager, this position serves as the payroll and benefits coordinator for the entire school. Responsibilities include assisting with personnel related issues including payroll and benefits, staffing, compensation, policy interpretation, fiscal related duties, and process improvement. This position is solely responsible for the payroll, benefits and leave accounting functions of all SoP employees: University Staff, Academic Staff, Faculty, Post-Degree Training, Limited Appointees, Graduate Assistants and Student Hourlies. The School currently has approximately 255 employees plus numerous student hourlies with an annual payroll expenditure of approximately $18 million.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required experience
1. Minimum of 2 years of experience: independently administering payroll and benefits programs utilizing a human resources system OR with payroll support in a large and complex unit within University of Wisconsin
2. Proven customer service skills utilized to provide exceptional and accurate service to a diverse customer base
3. Proven ability to work cooperatively and efficiently as a team member to deliver services within the division
4. Excellent organizational skills
5. Ability to independently prioritize time and meet established deadlines
6. Excellent written and verbal communication
7. Experience applying policies and laws to resolve complex issues
8. Experience with Microsoft Office products with the ability to effectively learn new technology.
10. Experience administering detailed and complex payroll and benefits programs, in a large organization

Preferred experience
1.Experience interpreting and applying UW-Madison policies/programs, as well as state and federal laws relating to compensation and benefits (e.g. FMLA, HIPAA, etc.)
2.Recent experience utilizing PeopleSoft for benefits and payroll administration, reporting and data management
3.Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively, and follow-though on tasks and work unsupervised

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, flexible between 7:30am and 5:00pm based on the need of the school. Schedule will be determined upon hire.

This position requires some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location up to one day per week if desired.
