Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Social Work

Erikson Institute, a premier graduate school in child development, early childhood education, and social work, is seeking to hire 1-2 tenure-track assistant professors with a well-developed research agenda focused on equity and justice. Preference for candidates with expertise in critical quantitative research; child, maternal, and family health; racial justice; and research in disinvested communities. We seek a deeply collaborative colleague to engage in ongoing program work, curricular revisions, and course development.

 

 

 

The ideal candidate will actively participate in the overall strategic discussions and leadership of the MSW program, prioritizing the pursuit of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. They will demonstrate excellence in scholarship, teaching, community engagement, and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and racial, social, and economic justice, as well as demonstrated leadership skills essential for mentoring graduate students. We are particularly interested in candidates with the interest and capacity to assume leadership roles in the program, a demonstrated record of accomplishment of collegiality and collaboration, as well as an interest and capacity to engage with students in the MSW and PhD programs.

 

 

 

Erikson offers a CSWE-accredited MSW degree program. We employ a cohort model and are committed to utilizing technology enabled learning. This is a ten-month position. It includes teaching a 2/2 course load per academic year, mentoring students, and engaging in program service activities, including committees, curriculum development, and program planning. This position is tenure eligible at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

• An earned MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program A Ph.D. in social work or closely aligned field by position start date At least three years of social work practice experience beyond the M.S.W. degree Expertise or interest in curricular innovations prioritizing raciolinguistic justice Ability to teach in a core curriculum area (e.g., quantitative research methods, clinical practice, policy) An academic/scholarly record Highest ethical standards Ability to promote collaborative and positive relationships with faculty, staff, students Experience working with ethnically, racially, and culturally diverse populations

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Successful record of university teaching Capacity and interest to engage in program evaluation and ongoing improvement Expertise in critical quantitative or mixed methods research Proven ability, interest, and active involvement in scholarly activity Demonstrated record or potential for external funding Experience with curriculum development and/or building online courses Established capacity to assume leadership roles Experience working with intersectionally minoritized populations Competence for and experience in working collaboratively with colleagues Successful experience and expertise in graduate student mentoring and advisement Evidence of progressive administrative and management leadership experience Ability to collaboratively analyze problems or procedures, anticipate outcomes, evaluate alternatives, and select best course of action efficiently, effectively, and sensitively Exhibit innovation in responding to present-day requirements while proactively preparing for the future demographic, dynamic, and dynamism of the MSW program
