Roles

The International Admissions Liaison (IAL) is the central point of contact for international new students at the residential campus and ensures the successful start for all incoming international students. The IAL partners with the International Admissions Coordinator and is a liaison on campus for prospective international students and their families. The IAL processes international applications, communicates with international applicants, gathers and evaluates documentation, and issues initial I-20s as appropriate. The IAL assists with the new student campus experience and international student orientation.

Responsibilities

(This list represents, but is not inclusive, of all related responsibilities an employee may be required to perform.) The International Admissions Liaison will:
  • Work at assigned campus location
  • Assists with the overall campus experience for international new students which include campus visits/tours and international student orientation
  • Work with students/families and assigned admissions advisor(s) to ensure a successful start.
  • Process and review international applications and supporting documents in Slate to move the student through admission stages
  • Update applicant records in Slate, and in other required admission related programs
  • Send acceptance letter, credentials, and scholarship letter (if applicable) to student via student application terminal.
  • Run daily reports
  • Process deposits
  • Create and send initial I-20’s to student’s application portal.
  • Follow up with students and families to ensure admissions requirements/documents are on file and accurately completed; updated original transcript, diploma copy, health insurance, housing (if applicable), deposits and/ or first semester payment, etc.
  • Work with departments such as financial aid, business office, student services and housing on behalf of incoming students.
  • Accountable for international new student enrollments by working with admissions representatives on their portfolio of students.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree preferred or 1 to 3 years’ experience in higher education
  • Sensitivity to and appreciation for diverse cultures.
  • Highly detail and goal orientated.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license at time of hire and maintain valid driver’s license while employed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including projecting a positive attitude and friendly manner while working with prospective student and families.
  • Willingness and ability to work irregular hours, including some weekends that are required during heavy enrollment cycles and willing to accommodate international students’ needs, as determined reasonable.
  • Skilled in using an integrated Customer Relations Management system (prefer Slate, Colleague, MS office, Social Media (X, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) and other recruitment software.
  • Valid Passport, if required to travel internationally.
Expectations
  • Report to the International Admissions Coordinator
  • Assist with and be responsible for compiling student portfolio, which results in successful student starts against the objectives, with expectations to matriculate students from admit to confirmed and registered status.
  • Create positive and welcoming environment for prospective students when they visit campus by effectively communicating and working with faculty and staff.
  • Travel when necessary at the direction of the Director.
