Roles

Part-time faculty members are responsible for teaching and undertaking professional and scholarly activities in order to stay current in their areas of teaching responsibility and may also contribute to university service.

Responsibilities

Responsible to:
• Teach a variable course load per individual semester, compressed, or summer contract
• Hold regularly scheduled office hours (minimum of 1 hour per week for each 3 credit hour course) and / or be available to students on a regular basis
• Assess student learning based on institutional outcomes, course goals and objectives in an unbiased, timely, and respectful manner
• Provide timely and relevant feedback on graded work
• Respond to student inquiries within 48 hours (24 hours in an 8 week or compressed/summer course)
• Adhere to administrative expectations and deadlines established by CAO, division chair, and academic dean
• Remain current in their respective academic disciplines and ensure ongoing intellectual engagement
• May contribute to a combination of activities representing substantive contribution to the university

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications are:

• Possess at least a Master's Degree in the area of teaching discipline
• Possess at least the minimum academic credentials required by Northwood's Operating Units or the institution's regional and/or specialty accrediting bodies or state licensing agencies

• Travel as necessary to attend meetings and activities when appropriate
• Use Blackboard learning platform according to the university standards
• Maintain accurate and up to date information regarding academic credentials and professional/scholarly activities
• Abide by all conditions outlined in the University Employee Manual and Faculty Manual
