Job Description
The Geological Engineering program at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) in Rolla, Missouri, is seeking outstanding applicants for a non-tenure-track teaching faculty position in geological engineering to begin August 2023. Preference will be given to applicants with significant knowledge and experience in the areas of geological engineering, rock engineering, subsurface exploration, geotechnics, and related fields. The faculty member should be prepared to teach both undergraduate and graduate students. This position will be filled at the Assistant Teaching or Associate Professor level but is eligible for future promotion. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Successful candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to high-quality teaching both at the undergraduate and graduate levels including distance courses as appropriate. The candidate will be expected to teach three courses per semester and will also be expected to provide service to the department, professional community, and institution. Applicants should have evidence of, or show potential for, excellence in high-quality teaching and service.

This position will reside in Missouri S&T’s Geosciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering Department (GGPE). The department has 12 full-time faculty and is recognized as a leader in education and research. Facilities associated with the department include the new Rock Characterization Lab, and the Energetic Materials, Rock Characterization, and Geomechanics research center. Minimum Qualifications

The educational requirements may be met through a Ph.D. in geological engineering or closely related discipline, or through a M.S. in geological engineering or closely related field with significant related industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Significant experience in either industry or academia is desired. Candidates who are licensed Professional Engineers or who have the capability of quickly obtaining licensure are preferred.
