JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Dean of the Holzschuh College of Business Administration (HCBA), the Robert B. Wegman (RBW) Endowed Director of the Center for Food Industry Innovation and Supply Chain Excellence will head the Centers of Excellence in Food Industry Leadership and Supply Chain, work to promote the programs associated with the Center, fundraise for the Center and its programs, and develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders. The RBW Director will also teach up to two classes each semester.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Oversee the continued development of the Food Industry Leadership program and promote the value of this cross-disciplinary opportunity to the HCBA student community.
- Serve as a liaison to the Food Industry advisory board.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain Management faculty to facilitate further growth of the B.S. Supply Chain Management program by functioning as a key liaison to the Supply Chain Advisory board.
- Lead the development and evolution of the multidisciplinary Food Systems program by working with key stakeholders across the university and within the diverse food industry.
- The RW Director will work with local organizations to increase the professional stature of the Food Industry Leadership program, and the Supply Chain Management degree, and ultimately attract students into the disciplines.
- The RBW Director will work with other food-based programs that exist at Niagara University, particularly the Food Marketing concentration, to help students gain a regional, national, and global understanding of food and food supply issues. This will require the director to organize at least one international or domestic study trip per year for students in the food leadership program.
- The RBW Director will support the development of more extensive food systems programs as they emerge.
- The RBW Director will be expected to establish and maintain a broad range of relationships with regional and national food producers and distributors.
- The RBW Director will be expected to further expand and strengthen relationships with organizations involved in supply chain and logistics activities. These relationships will involve both US and Canadian organizations, using the HCBA location on an international border as a valuable asset.
- Develop the Robert B. Wegman Annual Lecture in Food Systems and Logistics. This will require the Director to facilitate a visit and lecture provided by at least one notable speaker per year.
- Function as the on-site contact for all Wegman's scholars enrolled at Niagara University (approximately 95 presently) along with a cohort of Robert B. Wegman Scholars in Food Industry Leadership.
- The RBW Director will routinely teach courses (not to exceed 2 courses per semester), when requested, and support other faculty members as appropriate.
- The director will coordinate with the Director of College Outreach to host the annual Food Summit event. (Note: this is a revenue-generating event.)
- Assist Supply Chain faculty with the routine Supply Chain training programs and semi-annual industry update events. (Note: these are revenue-generating activities.)
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills
- At least three years of industry experience in supply chain management and the food industry
- At least three years of experience teaching in higher ed.
- Experience as an innovative leader.
- High organizational and planning skills.
- Demonstrated experience in academic program development.
- Experienced public speaker.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
- Master's degree required.
- At least three years of industry experience in supply chain and food industry management.
- At least three years of teaching experience in Higher Ed.
