Manager, Insurance and Risk, Risk Management and Insurance

Rowan University’s Office of Risk Management and Insurance seeks an experienced professional to serve in the role of Manager, Insurance and Risk to administer the University’s insurance portfolio involving both commercial insurance and self-insured exposures within our Office of Risk Management and Insurance.

You'll provide Rowan University:
  • Assistance with the design of the overall insurance program, to include insurance policy design, pricing and terms, based on an understanding of the University’s risk exposure.
  • Protection against various casualty, property, liability, and financial risks.
  • Review of contractual agreements to recommend insurance provisions and language that limit exposure to loss.
  • Participation in University committees, providing risk management advice and support to academic and administrative departments.
  • A variety of activities associated with the annual renewal and maintenance of the University’s insurance programs, such as, student accident and health insurance plans.
  • Administration of property carrier inspections, site visits, loss prevention recommendations, and construction project plan reviews.
  • Management of the University’s fleet vehicle statistics and automobile insurance.
In addition, this position often represents Rowan University with the State of New Jersey Office of Attorney General, insurance companies, brokers, TPAs, the NJ Association of State Colleges and Universities (NJASCU / Consortium), as well as third party consultants, service providers and vendors.

  • Prior experience with insurance policy management.
  • Experience working in risk management and/or insurance. (3 – 8 years / potentially as a Risk Manager or Insurance Manager).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance or related field.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to work a hybrid onsite schedule in Stratford, NJ.
