Position Summary

The position is responsible for all aspects related to the comprehensive operations and management of the Dallas College Promise Program. Establishing and managing strong working relationships with various college departments and programs that directly affect the Promise Program. Maintaining close working relationships with area school districts, universities, business, and community-based organizations and serves as lead for focused outreach efforts to increase knowledge of and participation in the Dallas Promise. Conducting regular review and analysis of Dallas College Promise with research and analytics partners to inform its growth and evolution.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.

  • Ability to interpret, understand and apply comprehensive knowledge of innovative technology platforms related to and in support of the holistic student experience.

  • Experience leading or managing major change initiatives including knowledge and skill in process improvement, project planning, conflict resolution, team building, customer service, and data-based decision-making concepts

  • Ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges that arise as a result of Dallas College’s current transition.

  • General knowledge and experience in working with student success programs

  • Experience with current and emerging technology related to student success, including expertise with enrollment management systems and web-based recruitment & retention efforts.

  • An understanding of contemporary issues in higher education is required through professional development activities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion and a demonstrated commitment to the promotion of diversity.

  • Ability to identify, address, and collaborate with other leaders on solutions to barriers preventing a significant portion of our population from having a job that pays a living wage.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the educational, cultural, and social needs of a diverse student population, to include sound knowledge and understanding of the K-16 landscape particularly as it relates to pre-college experience – college readiness, access and transition.

  • Experience in operational planning, policy development, and outcome/needs assessment for program participants.

  • Experience interpreting, articulating, and implementing a variety of regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with Dallas College, state and federal requirements.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, complex ideas and information to a variety of stakeholders/constituents within the Dallas College community network related to career and academic requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide creative and energetic leadership in the development, execution, and ongoing improvement of the Dallas College Promise Program that embodies the values and goals of Dallas College.

  • Provide administrative oversight in the development, implementation, and maintenance of all cross-functional operational efforts for Dallas College Promise Programming.

  • Collaborate with the Division of Student Success (Recruitment, Admissions, Financial Aid, Success Coaching, Career Pathways, etc.) to ensure coordinated delivery of services for all Dallas College Promise participants.

  • Collaborate, support, and serve as primary contact between the Dallas College Foundation Office and the needs and services of Dallas College Promise within Student Services

  • Maintains effective communication between faculty, staff and administrators within the College and external community stakeholders. Represent Dallas College and Dallas College Promise with all internal and external constituencies and corresponding events/activities.

  • Provide and facilitate regular communication, engagement, and meetings with program implementation team(s) as well as with K12 community groups, school partners, counselors, students, and parents.

  • Serve as primary liaison for Dallas College Promise Program communicating with students and families (as appropriate) to include management of the Dallas College Promise Petition process.

  • Conduct on-going analysis of Dallas College Promise processes to identify opportunities for policy/procedural improvements.

  • Deploy data-informed programming ensuring reports on overall academic progress – including student participation, high school engagement, retention and completion statistics, application/eligibility trends, as well metrics that inform equity gaps in educational outcomes and student success across race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, etc.

  • Utilizes technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others. Monitors and updates student digital experience keeping comprehensive communication updated and current, particularly as it relates to Dallas College Promise operational and policy guidelines.

  • Assumes overall responsibility for directing the activities of the personnel engaged in performing the functions of the assigned areas. Assesses needs; supervises and coordinates development, implementation and evaluation of programs and associated staff.

  • Develops budgets; monitors and approves department expenditures

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher as confirmed by official transcripts.

  • Five (5) years of experience.

  • Official transcript will be required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a Higher Education Setting

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

  • Program/Project Management
