This is an on-site teaching position at PTC's campus in Oakdale, PA for classes that take place between the hours of 8am-5pm.

Purpose of Job
Pittsburgh Technical College is looking for an experienced individual to teach coursework, develop curriculum, and provide training and student support in Criminal Technology Program.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in field is required (Master’s preferred);
    • If the chosen individual does not have the required degree, he/she must agree to complete at least 6 semester or 9 quarter credits per year toward the required degree in the field.
  • State teaching certification not required

Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of four years’ full-time work experience in the criminal justice field, at least six years’ part-time experience as an adjunct or industry training and development practitioner, or an equivalent combination of educational and professional experience
  • Must have education and work experience to demonstrate competency to teach coursework in the following areas for Associate Degree level programs:
    • Law Enforcement
    • Corrections
    • Public Security
    • Loss Prevention

    • SSA230 Juvenile Justice
Assist in degree curriculums and provide training and student support resulting in graduates who meet entry and mid-level employment criteria for positions in the Criminal Justice fields.

Teaching Effectiveness
  • Teach and support curriculum and assessment initiatives in both on campus and online courses
  • Collaborate with academic leadership and program faculty to deliver course learning materials, assessments, and competencies to students
  • Support students with achieving course competencies through scheduled course time, office hours, and feedback
  • Grade student assessments within a week (or 72 hours for online courses) and record attendance, grades, and information regarding student progress in the Student Information System.
  • Support PTC student and employee events as appropriate, such as graduation, which may be held on Saturdays or evenings.
  • Contribute to PTC's overall success by performing additional duties as needed
