The University of Montana invites applications for a non-tenure track, full-time adjunct assistant professor position in the Department of Computer Science to begin August, 2023. We are interested in recruiting two (2) outstanding instructors specializing in any area of computer science, but have a preference for the areas of software development, ethics, web and cloud based technologies, game development, robotics, digital humanities, and software testing.

Successful applicants will have achieved or have professional experience equivalent to a master’s degree in computer science or a closely related field; evidence of or demonstrated potential for teaching excellence; effective oral and written communication skills; an ability to teach throughout our curriculum; a willingness to develop on-line courses; and a commitment to recruiting and teaching diverse groups of students. The teaching load is three semester-based courses per academic semester.

Position Details

Instructor: Department of Computer Science

Title: Computer Science Adjunct Assistant Professor

Position Type: Annual contract. Full time, 1.0 FTE during an academic year of 10 months.

Schedule: Full time year position beginning fall semester 2023

Entry Rate: Salary commensurate with experiences and begins in the low $50,000 range; opportunities to augment salary through grant funding, summer courses, preparing online courses, and consultation exist.

Primary Duties: Teaching introductory, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate level courses, particularly those found in our software engineering curriculum and in the digital humanities. Teaching load is three classes per semester. Service roles such as recruitment, outreach, program assessment, and promotion of computer science.
