The University of South Carolina Lancaster, a regional campus of the University of South Carolina located approximately thirty-five (35) miles south of Charlotte, NC seeks candidates for a faculty position in Criminal Justice for a 9-month appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor of Criminal Justice beginning August 16, 2023.
The faculty member will normally teach twelve credit hours per semester or its equivalent. One course release per year is given for tenure-track faculty. The basic requirement is to teach foundational criminal justice courses for freshmen and sophomore students. There are opportunities to teach upper-division courses in the University’s Palmetto College bachelor’s degree program.
Applicants who hold a master's degree in criminal justice or criminology, or in a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in criminal justice, including credentials necessary for departmental approval will be considered for a non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Instructor. Masters in criminal justice or criminology, or closely related field, required by start date of employment. Instructors must have a commitment to university/community service.
Applicants who hold a Ph.D. in criminal justice or criminology, or in a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in criminal justice including credentials necessary for departmental approval will be considered for a tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Ph.D. in criminal justice or criminology required by start date of employment. (ABDs considered.) Assistant Professors must have a commitment to scholarship and university/community service.
Advising, and university/community service are expected.
Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching at the university level.
