Job Summary
The Department of Mathematics at Drexel University invites applications for a 9-month, renewable, non-tenure track Associate Teaching Professor, effective September 2023 for the 2023-2024 school year. The main duties will be twelve credit hours of teaching per ten-week term (or equivalent, as assigned by the Department Head), holding regularly scheduled office hours in our tutoring center, and meeting with students outside of class. Other duties include service within the department such as participation in open houses and other events. Applicants are required to hold a PhD in mathematical science (or equivalent), and to be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching beginning and advanced students. A minimum of six years teaching collegiate level mathematics is expected and expertise in teaching pre-Calculus, Calculus and Linear Algebra courses is particularly valuable. Also of value are candidates who have expertise in running outcomes-oriented classes in different modalities (face to face, virtual, hybrid) and a flexible attitude toward the use technology in the classroom. Lastly, experience at multi-section course coordination and course development are prized. The Mathematics Department offers undergraduate, masters and PhD degrees.
Essential Functions
12 Credits of instruction in Mathematics Course per Quarter -Hold regular office hours in the Math Resource Center and outside of class. Departmental service: committee work, attend university events, course coordination etc.
