Position Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations and providing lead work direction to staff in the Cashiers Office. This position is responsible for ensuring that CSU, Federal and SDSU Research Foundation (SDSURF) policies are not in conflict as they relate to Global Campus and University procedures and ensuring the correct fee amounts are being collected. This position requires a high degree of independence and must exhibit an expert knowledge of financial record keeping methods and practices. This position handles a wide range of specialized administrative responsibilities in support of the cashiering operation. This position is responsible for making recommendations regarding policy, fiscal analysis, and personnel matters.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non- exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary

The Global Campus Cashier's Office is responsible for the collecting, depositing, and recording of all receipts owed to and accounted for by Global Campus. In addition, they are responsible for student billing and reconciliation of student accounts. The office is composed of two full time staff positions and two student assistants. The staff provides technical support to the College with regards to the financial transactions and reporting necessary in a self-support environment.

There are over 700 courses and 17,000 students each year for which the Global Campus Cashier's Office collects fees, processes accounts receivables, and reconciles.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience which has provided the above knowledge and abilities. Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other applicable field of study is preferred.
  • Experience in a university student account or cashiering environment is preferred.
  • Experience using enterprise computer systems.
  • Ability to provide accurate information and explain University policies and procedures to Students, Staff and Parents.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out the day-to-day work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness and make any necessary corrections.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial record-keeping, mathematical and general office methods, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,500 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,779 - $6,632 per month.
