- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or closely related field.
- Knowledge and experience in Student Business Services office procedures.
- Advanced knowledge & experience working with the university student systems; such as Banner and Touchnet
- Knowledge of general accounting and auditing principles.
The Student Business Specialist position assists in the supervision of Student Business Services by providing direction and guidance over staff for the Billing, Communications, and Training functions. Helps ensure departmental operations run effectively and in accordance with federal and state regulations and local policies. Assists in establishing and enforcing goals and the strategic planning for SBS and makes recommendations to Director. Responsible for identifying communication and development needs and coordinating initiatives that both promote SBS initiatives and support student success.
Job Duties
- Responsible for directly overseeing the billing, communications, and training functions for the department. Advise and guide staff in performance of duties, assign tasks/projects, monitor, and evaluate progress for efficiency.
- Provide functional and technical assistance to all SBS staff, students, parents, and/or other department staff. Help resolve discrepancies related to student accounts and/or other SBS related processes.
- Develop relationships with departments on campus to understand communications, collaborate to ensure a good customer experience, and implement activities within the SBS department that eliminate barriers.
- Identify key audiences and guide the design of targeted messages through different forms of media. Refine messaging as needed ensuring successful and timely management of communications across multiple platforms.
- Assess, plan, develop, and deliver training and learning initiatives for users. Research new trends and evaluate effectiveness of training tools.
- Perform research, analyze and provide reports and recommendations independently or collaboratively for special projects and tasks related to all SBS functional areas as assigned.
- Analyze, develop and revise policy and procedures in accordance with the laws and regulations governing higher education institutions and university policy; make recommendations for changes to policies/procedures.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned. Serve as SBS representative in meetings and on committees.
