Job Description

The Center for Health Equity Research (CHER) is looking for a Research Coordinator or Research Coordinator Senior. The ideal candidate will be a trained public health professional who has knowledge and experience specific to Indigenous/American Indian OR Latinx/Hispanic health equity research and program evaluation. The selected candidate will be able to engage with the community through participatory research and program evaluation, quantitative and qualitative research and be experienced in evaluation data collection methods and analysis. This position will be responsible for dissemination of research and program evaluation results, communicating effectively to both scientific and lay audiences. At the Senior level only, the selected candidate will conduct advanced research and evaluation activities, being able to review literature, data collection, analysis and interpretation.

Research Coordinator

Data Collection and Analysis - 45%
  • Plan, implement, and maintain data collection, monitoring, and analysis systems.
  • Provide support to data collection activities including (but not limited to) observation and field notes, surveys, interviews, or focus groups.
  • Data collection may be remote or require travel to partner sites and may be conducted in Spanish or English.
  • Coordinate involvement of study participants and maintain data integrity and confidentiality based on IRB and human subjects research compliance.
  • Support and lead qualitative & quantitative research analysis including, cleaning, and preparing datasets, performing analysis using analytic software, interpreting data in collaboration with university and community partners.

Project/Program Coordination and Administration - 30%
  • Responsible for coordinating day-to-day activities of the research project including project monitoring.
  • Assist with reporting to partners and funders.
  • Act as liaison with public in recruitment/retention of participants.
  • Support stakeholder meetings (agendas, scheduling, recording meetings, follow-up).
  • Maintain records of project data and information.
  • Support report preparation.

Research Dissemination Support - 20%
  • Support the dissemination of research at the direction of project lead.
  • Assisting in the creation of products including literature review, reference management, writing, contribution to sections of manuscripts, preparing submissions and revisions of manuscripts to target peer-reviewed journals, and conference presentations.
  • Prepare and present posters, presentations, manuscripts, and reports for technical and non-technical audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

Research Coordinator:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • 2 - 4 years of research support experience.
  • A combination of related education, experience and training may be used as an equivalent to the above minimum requirements.

Research Coordinator, Senior:
  • Master's degree in area of assignment or research.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • A combination of related education, experience and training may be used as an equivalent to the above minimum requirements.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Public Health (MPH) preferred.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish (this will be required for Latinx/Hispanic centered position).


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Research Coordinator:

Knowledge
  • Intermediate knowledge and relationships with Hispanic/Latinx populations, including immigrant, migrant and US-Mexico border populations OR Indigenous/American Indian communities.
  • Intermediate knowledge and relationships with public health and health systems serving Hispanic/Latinx populations, including immigrant, migrant and US-Mexico border populations OR Indigenous/American Indian communities.
  • Intermediate knowledge of quantitative, qualitative research or mixed methods protocols, data collection and analysis methods.
  • Knowledge and use of technology to support project coordination activities (Zoom, Google Drive, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Acrobat, Tango gift cards, reference managers, Qualtrics, vpn to access ADAMS, quantitative and qualitative software programs such as ATLAS.ti, SAS, SPSS).

Skills
  • Intermediate technical understanding and proficiency related to conducting public health research in collaboration with Hispanic/Latinx communities OR Indigenous/American Indian populations and tribes.
  • Experience preparing human subjects research permissions and protocols.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Intermediate knowledge of qualitative and or quantitative analytic software.

Abilities

Background Information

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Salary

  • Anticipated salary range for a Research Coordinator is $57,464 - $59,542. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
  • Anticipated salary range for a Research Coordinator, Senior is $54,779 - $64,400. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.


FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. More information on benefits at NAU is available on the Human Resources benefits website. Classified Staff employees are in a probationary status for their first six months at NAU. New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. Additionally, new employees will begin participating in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date.

Research Coordinator, Senior:

This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Program; 22 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. More information on benefits at NAU is available on the Human Resources benefits website. NAU is a tobacco and smoke-free campus. Service Professionals are hired on a contract basis, renewable each 6 months according to terms of the Conditions of Professional Service. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of the pay period following election. Additionally, the long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following election.
