We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join our leadership team in the School of Health Sciences as Associate Dean of Academic and Faculty Affairs. As the Associate Dean of Academic and Faculty Affairs, you will play a critical role in developing and supporting our faculty, promoting academic excellence, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. This role works closely with department chairs, program directors, and faculty on projects related to academic programming and faculty affairs.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the efficient and productive operations of the school in accordance with the school’s strategic plan

• Develop and refine policies to achieve academic and faculty goals and objectives

• Collaborate with departments, programs, and partners, to assure the integrity, relevance, and value of academic and nonacademic offering within the school, ensuring continual assessment and development of programs

• Manage, edit, and track the continual accreditation for all academic programs in the school

• Work in conjunction with chairs on new program development and curriculum revisions.

• Manage conflict resolution processes for faculty

• Oversee and coordinate annual changes to the catalog

• Spearhead implementation of the strategic plan as it pertains to all faculty and academic activities and overall school goals

• Support academic and faculty leaders to assure that policies, procedures, and guidelines foster a positive experience and enable excellence in teaching, research, and service

• Work with department chairs and program directors to ensure the effective use of instructional talent and provide school-level direction for recruitment and retention of faculty in alignment with university and school priorities

• Work with department chairs and program directors to support plans for professional growth and excellence for faculty, playing a role in mentoring junior faculty

• Assure faculty are trained on process and policies related to tenure and promotion and annual evaluations

• Provide university-wide leadership and operations management

• Lead and manage the chair election process for each department

• Serve as dean’s liaison to the faculty affairs and academic affairs committees

• Serve as a member of the Dean’s team

• Participate in recruitment, retention and engagement activities/events related to student recruitment and success

• Oversee contract lifecycle management for school-, department-, and program-related external agreements related to academic programming

• Other duties as assigned related to this position

Education Requirements:
  • PhD in one of health professions disciplines within theschool required
Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of experience with regional/institutional and professional program accreditation
  • Experience with schoolwide or university leadership and service
  • Knowledge of emerging workforce needs and challenges in health professions education
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Experience reviewing and editing academic and non-academic documents
  • Experience with interprofessional education
  • Experience with alumni engagement and development
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience supporting complex organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
