The Opportunity

The School of Global Health Management and Informatics in the College of Community Innovation (CCIE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for two 9-month, tenure-earning assistant professor or tenured associate professor positions, anticipated to begin August 2024.

We seek candidates with scholarly expertise in health services research, health management , and/or health economics who have an active research agenda (e.g., demonstrated via peer-reviewed publications, external funding) and a commitment to effective teaching. The selected candidates will be expected to teach in both undergraduate and graduate programs and across various teaching modalities (face-to-face, online, and hybrid).

The School of Global Health Management and Informatics (SGHMI) provides students with opportunities for innovative research focused on problem-solving and making better healthcare decisions. Graduates are prepared for the challenges of the rapidly growing and competitive healthcare industry through dynamic curricula in health administration, public health, global health, health policy, healthcare leadership, long-term quality care, community engagement and health informatics. The School of Global Health Management and Informatics (SGHMI) offers two exciting major programs with Bachelor of Science degrees. One in Health Services Administration (B.S.-HSA) and the other one in Health Informatics and Information Management (B.S.-HIIM). Both are certified or accredited by our professional bodies. We also offer three accredited high-quality master's degrees in Health Administration (MHA), the executive master program (eMHA), and Health Care Informatics (M.S.- HCI).

CCIE is one a one-of-a-kind academic unit with distinct, interdisciplinary expertise and potential for partnership with community stakeholders, conceived to address societal challenges and work alongside the community. Established in 2018, the college offers undergraduate and graduate programs on the main campus and UCF Downtown. Minimum Qualifications:

By time of appointment, the candidate must hold a doctoral degree in Health Services Administration, Health Services Research, Global Health, Public Health, Healthcare Management, Health Policy and Management, or a related health discipline from an accredited institution.

However, candidates with a non-health related doctoral degree such as Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Public Policy from an accredited institution may be considered if they have a track record of health services research and teaching experience in healthcare-related courses.

Candidates eligible for appointment as a tenured associate professor upon hire must have a demonstrated record of research (e.g., publication in high quality journals, external funding), teaching (e.g., graduate student advising), and service commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of associate professor.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated success in:

  • Publishing high-quality research articles in top-tier international and national peer-reviewed (refereed) journals.
  • Submitting research proposals to external funding opportunities.
  • Being awarded (e.g., as PI or Co-I) research proposals from external funding opportunities.
  • Dissemination of peer-reviewed research at national or international conferences.

In addition, preferences will be given to candidates with a research and teaching focus in one or more of the following areas:

  • Healthcare and scientific research methodology,
  • Healthcare Finance or Accounting,
  • Healthcare Economics,
  • Global healthcare management,
  • Healthcare quality,
  • Healthcare Operations Management.
