Position Summary

This position will perform several duties related to the Universities building automation systems ( BAS ). This person will inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain BAS throughout campus, involving trades and/or contract personnel as necessary. This individual will also review the existing building automation systems and assist with their design and/or revision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform routine technical duties in maintaining and troubleshooting BAS devices, sensors and controls. Be responsible for BAS hardware, applications, databases, data files and computer workstations associated with the BAS . Serve as the BAS system administrator. Ensure the BAS is backed up regularly. Troubleshoot and coordinate repair as necessary of BAS components, computer hardware and software, communications equipment, circuit boards, power supplies, electrical/electronic controls, sensors and transducers. Maintain inventory and records of BAS equipment. – 25%
  • Perform routine technical duties in maintaining and troubleshooting Key Control software. Be responsible for Key Control software, applications, databases, data files and computer workstations associated with software. Serve as the Key control software system administrator. Ensure the Key Control software is backed up regularly. – 25%
  • Assist with duties relating to the daily operations and upkeep of the department’s technical systems and work management system. Perform these duties in the absence of the supervisor or as directed by him/her. Support and maintain embedded systems and associated equipment used by Facilities Management and Campus Services -25%
  • Create reports and datasets to support campus operations and business. Gather data from field devices as needed. – 10%
  • Participate as a technical resource on teams implementing new technologies and processes for the department. Contribute to the success of objectives. Train end users on new software and workflows. -10%
  • Perform other miscellaneous, related duties as assigned. -5%
Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
  1. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories:
    1. course work in building automation systems, electrical engineering, HVAC technology or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
      • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
    2. work experience involving maintenance of a building automation system.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) (Civil Service)

  1. Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and their applications.
