About the Opportunity

Summary

The Associate Director of Recruitment and Enrollment will oversee and execute an effective strategy for the recruitment of students Northeastern University's campuses in the Bay Area (Oakland and Silicon Valley) to meet the University's enrollment and revenue goals. Reporting to the Director, Student Recruitment and Enrollment, this position will work in alignment with a variety of key stakeholders across the University networks. The Associate Director of Recruitment will be accountable for coordinating and managing specific constituent relationships or projects along with an individual new student enrollment portfolio, and other duties as assigned. The Associate Director will engage in long-term planning and evaluation, as well as resource assessment and management. The incumbent works collaboratively with other leaders in the Enrollment Management division, Global Campus Deans, research and analytics, recruiting and marketing team members, and other constituents across all levels to implement and assess enrollment and student success in various modalities and learning environments.

A successful candidate will be a strong leader and team player with a strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to successfully work independently, and who actively contributes to the department's welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment.

This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes mornings, evenings and weekends, extensive travel, reliable transportation and a valid driving license.

This position will be based in Oakland, CA, will have supervisory responsibilities across the Bay Area Campuses, and will require frequent travel to the Silicon Valley Campus.

Qualifications

Minimum of Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's degree preferred. At least 7 years of experience in student recruitment, college admissions and/or other customer service/sales organizations. Solid supervisory, interpersonal and leadership skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to interpret enrollment research and make relevant application to strategic planning. Experience working with diverse populations. Demonstrated understanding of admissions technical systems. Must be highly organized and detail oriented. Knowledge of higher education issues related to the enrollment of students. Proven ability to work independently, direct the work of others, excellent communication and presentation skills, sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse constituencies and managing goals.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Coordinate and manage a specific relationship(s) or project(s):

Works closely with an assigned constituent group to communicate recruitment-related information. Serves as an advocate of the College/Campus constituency in the recruitment process. Effectively manages any assigned project(s) including setting goals in consultation with his/her supervisor, developing and managing timelines, achieving desired results and producing a final report on the assigned task.

Lead, engage and motivate employees:

Actively support a positive team culture. Provide an effective process for performance management and development that provides measurable goals, clear expectations, and solid direction to each team member. Provide frequent feedback, recognition and coaching to ensure high performance, professional growth and development. Plan for and support employees in career and professional development opportunities aligned with organization's needs. Address unsatisfactory employee performance including developing, delivering, and monitoring performance improvement plans. Facilitate the resolution of employee conflicts. Lead and guide employee/team to develop new skills, knowledge and abilities that will enhance their work and development. Plan, organize resources, assign, and delegate activities and measure results to achieve organization's expectations. Manage change by providing the needed structure and transparent environment. Coach employee/team through changes that impact their day-to-day work. Assist employees in navigating business processes and resolving issues. Administer and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures. Review staffing needs including developing job descriptions and recruitment plans. Lead the selection and onboarding process

Counsel and Advise Prospects and Applicants, Counselors, and other Constituents:

Communicate accurate information and effectively counsel all regional prospects, applicants, transfer counselors, and other employer/community constituents in a timely, professional, and positive manner during all recruitment events including, onsite visits, information sessions, interviews, written correspondence email and phone calls. Fully participates in all training and professional development opportunities.

Management of Systems and Knowledge Base:

Maintain accurate and timely record keeping of all interactions with students in university CRM and application systems to produce accurate reporting. Provide feedback on any issues/interests that may arise during applicant & prospective student contact in efforts to provide continued improvement of the student experience. Work closely with manager to collect, analyze and present data that will inform new programs and services that meet market demands. Accountable for staying current with all programs within assigned programs to be able to properly assist applicants & prospective students with the enrollment cycle.

Student Recruitment:

Plan, design and implement an effective goal driven recruitment strategy designed to attract talented, diverse, and domestic students for assigned geographic areas, degree program or audience(s) and build relationships/partnerships with key organizations, companies and schools that lead to channel pipelines. The strategies should include efficient and cost-effective travel management in these territories while meeting office and university expectations and priorities. Attend industry events, college fairs, transfer programs and community colleges to establish a presence in emerging and introductory markets and to increase market share in established markets. Develop, coordinate, and execute recruitment and yield activities including, group and individual counseling of students, information sessions for students and employers, open houses, college, and transfer/career counselor events among other activities. Follow-up and evaluation are expected upon return from travel.

The expected hiring range is $73,535 to $93,755 based on the position's scope and responsibilities.
