The labs of Drs. Andres Blanco and Christopher Lengner in the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). This position is focused on the investigation of the molecular regulation of cellular programs driving colorectal cancer (CRC) oncogenesis and metastasis. Expertise is required in the areas of mouse models of CRC, mouse and human organoid models of CRC, and genetic manipulation of CRC cells. The most competitive candidates will also have experience using forward genetic screening and competence with orthotopic CRC transplantation methodology such as endoscope-guided implantation.


Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and a strong publication record in CRC or related fields. Responsibilities may include: cell culture of CRC organoids and cell lines, lentiviral manipulation of organoids and cell lines, molecular cloning, deployment of CRISPR screens, some proficiency bioinformatics analysis of next-generation sequencing data from RNA-seq and CRISPR sgRNA libraries, mouse breeding and genotyping, mouse colony maintenance, CRC orthotopic implantations, and mouse dissections and histological analyses.
