Job Summary
The Ice Arena Team Leader will be responsible for coordinating with coaches, supervising rink operators, performing daily work on the ice arena and grounds keeping duties on campus.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintaining a quality sheet of ice
- Oversee all aspects of ice installation and removal
- Prepare ice for all practices, games and other ice events. Duties include: removing debris; checking ice depth; scraping, edging and resurfacing ice.
- Participate in set-up and disassembly of hockey glass, and dasher boards/kick plates,
- Safe and efficient driving of the Zamboni.
- Preventative maintenance and repair of facility.
- Maintain arena’s cleanliness to optimal levels
- Exhibit superior customer service skills
- Performs other related duties as directed by the Manager of Grounds & Landscaping or Assistant Manager of Grounds and Landscaping
- During the off season, the team leader would assist with Grounds maintenance
Education/Skills Requirements
Required:
- High School or GED equivalent required
- Applicants must possess strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Ability to deal calmly with a wide variety of people in dynamic, often stressful circumstances
- Licenses or Certifications : Valid driver’s license
- Forklift certification
- Class B driver’s license
- Pesticide applicator’s license
- CPA and RN certification
Required:
- Minimum 3 years experience in ice arena maintenance
- US Ice Rink or ISI Certification
- The Ice Arena is open 7 days a week and hours may vary depending events on campus
- Evening and weekend shifts may be required during special events and heavy seasonal workloads.
- This role will be required to be available on call (24/7) and work during emergencies (i.e. weather, changes in sport events).
