Job Description

Essential Duties
- Support data-related committees and working groups made up of members across the ASU community. This includes driving the agendas and tracking issues
- Work collaboratively with ASU constituents to help resolve core data governance and management issues that are raised by committees
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to create project plans, including budgets, for the implementation of data management activities including activities such as alterations to security and permissions models and revising of data access processes
- Lead the implementation of data management projects including helping to create requirements, project team management, and stakeholder communications
- Implement solutions that support data governance and management strategy and direction
- Operationalize data policy by implementing processes and leading the implementation of technical solutions
- Establish and audit workflows to ensure that data governance policies have been implemented and are being adhered to
- Providing expertise on data management implications of data governance and policy decisions
- Support data users in appropriate data use, handling and data access permissioning
- Support data users in data treatment and retirement in adherence to state retention schedules
- Partner with data, engineering, IT policy, privacy, and security professionals for data governance and data management activities and decision making
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, data inventories, data mapping and metadata
- Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in ET/ASU events and programs

Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Marketing or related field AND 3 years product/program management, project management, management consulting OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience implementing or engaging in higher education data governance processes
- Awareness of the national and international data and privacy regulatory landscape (Examples: GDPR, HIPAA, FERPA)
- Intermediate level understanding of higher educational systems and data (Examples: student information systems (SIS)- PeopleSoft/ Banner, learning management systems (LMS)- Canvas/ Blackboard, customer relationship management (CRM)- Salesforce)
- Project management and/ or business analysis skills/ experience
- Process improvement and mapping
Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%).Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
