Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is excited to be seeking a full-time, grant-funded Director for the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOCs). The Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOCs) is a one-stop-shop for veteran and military spouse entrepreneurs and business owners looking to start and grow their businesses. The Directors' responsibilities will include:

Managing the delivery of the SBA's (Small Business Administration) "Boots to Business" training program to military bases included in the Cooperative Agreement.

Provide business-related training and advice to veterans throughout the region. Develop and implement marketing plans to promote the program.

Work with SBA district offices, resource partners (SBDC, SCORE, WBC), and other economic and veteran organizations throughout the region.

Ensure the VBOC meets program objectives and contractual requirements. Supervise the development, planning, scheduling, publicizing, delivery, and evaluation of business training and counseling.

Develop and implement a fundraising program to generate additional funds for the program; implement a client activity tracking system that includes program evaluation, follow-up, and auditing capabilities.

Maintain records and prepare reports; develop and implement an annual budget for the VBOC as well as analyze and determine current programmatic costs and forecast future expenditures.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree or the equivalent. Progressive full-time professional experience in small business ownership or economic development programs OR administration of grants/contracts and business management; OR consultant experience that preferably includes at least two years of supervisory experience. Some travels in and out of state will be required, therefore, a valid driving license is required. The director must be able to report to work at The Citadel (Charleston SC) daily unless traveling for VBOC-related activities.

Desirable/Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree. Previous experience in the administration of federal, state and other grants. Previous experience providing business counseling/advice. Previous experience providing business or other relevant training. Previous experience working with veterans or being a veteran.

Additional Information:

This position would start on or after 5/1/2023 pending the anticipated VBOC award.
