Job Description Summary

Responsible for conception needs assessment, development, delivery, management, and evaluation of Information Technology programs. Also responsible for cultivating mutually beneficial relationships with businesses, government agencies, and professional associations.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent formal training certification in a related field required
  • Four years of job-related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Criteria

CRITERIA : The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Other information and observations made during the interview process may be considered in the selection process. A Resume/CV and cover letter are required with the application. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Work with outside agencies to create workforce programs to educate their employees to enhance or increase their employment needs.
  • Manage all aspects of the delivery of a program or grant, whether open to the general public or offered by contract to a business, government agency, or professional association. This includes all delivery methods (classroom, distance learning, and the like) and on- and off-campus locations.
  • Design, pilot and implement need assessments using the appropriate methodology to develop programs to meet the needs of county residents, government agencies, and private industry.
  • Develop programs in compliance with national, state, and local laws as well as licensing and certification requirements.
  • Recruit, interview, recommend for hire, orient, train, and evaluate adjunct faculty, consultants, and support staff.
  • Ensure adjunct faculty compete required College professional development; report outcomes to the department chair and divisional administration.
  • Manage the CompTIA Voucher process to assure all students have access, which includes ordering and distribution to all credit and continuing education students and tracking students’ success.
  • Promote pathways for credit and continuing education programs by speaking to classes each semester.
  • Develop and implement multi-media marketing strategies and manage all promotional activities.
  • Develop course schedules to be included in the college’s primary publications, which are distributed countywide, and quarterly. Proof and edit copy. Additionally, design and supervise the production of marketing materials for their individual programs.
  • Process course modifications to include cancellations and changes and notify students.
  • Process student course add and drops.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, implementing modifications or eliminating as decided.
  • Assemble faculty, student, and program data that relate to student and program success; identify areas of concern and suggest action plans.
  • Coordinate textbook selections and/or access to OERs.
  • Investigate trends and new technologies; using the information to create new programs.
  • Cultivate and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with businesses, professional associations, community groups, legislators, and licensing and certification agencies to assess needs and maintain compliance.
  • Promote the college’s capabilities and services to business, government, and professional communities for the purpose of soliciting contracts, engagement, and goodwill and to increase their overall knowledge of Prince George’s Community College.
  • Register, recruit and advise credit and continuing education students on career choices and appropriate course selection.
  • Manage scholarship programs for Continuing Education students to include marketing, reviewing, awarding and notification. This can include but not limited to IT Scholarships, PEPCO, PepsiCO, PGCC, and Maryland state scholarships.
  • Write policies and procedures to ensure student compliance with program requirements. This must be done with good judgment, a clear understanding of the guidelines, and the experience to know when a departure from the guidelines is warranted.
  • Network with other campus offices, other community colleges, and the general community to accomplish work objectives.
  • Due to the broad nature of this function, coordinators work in a fast-paced, stressful environment filled with unexpected interruptions and challenges. Flexibility and the ability to think independently are essential as is the willingness to perform physical work such as carrying and delivering books to off-campus classes.
  • Undertake and complete special projects and other assignments at the request of the Department Chair or the Dean.
  • Attend career fairs throughout Prince George’s County disseminating information on credit and continuing education on Technology, Engineering, and Construction programs.
  • Processes and prepares all PGCC Certificates for IT Students after completion.
  • Actively participate in committees on campus to further engage the college community in the inclusiveness of Continuing Education in all program areas.
  • Cross-List credit and continuing education courses.
  • Collaborate with Technology, Engineering, and Construction department’s office associates to enhance student and faculty services.
  • Assist the Department Chair or Program Director, as needed, in the day-to-day operations of the department.
  • Assist the Department Chair or Program Director in the development of mentoring and coaching partnerships between and among full time and adjunct faculty. Work to identify the mentor and mentee prior to the semester;
  • Assist the Department Chair or Program Director in the development of internal and external partnerships to maximize recruitment, retention, completion, articulation, and student success.
  • Assist department chair with agenda-setting and preparation for department and area meetings.
  • Assist with coaching and training of colleagues, especially adjunct faculty;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
