The Harbert College of Business ( HCOB ) and the College of Architecture, Design, and Construction ( CADC ) invite applications for the position of Administrative Director of the Institute for Real Estate Development. This position is full-time, non-tenure track, and non-tenure eligible.

The Real Estate Institute: In 2010, the Master of Real Estate Development ( MRED ) program was launched as a joint program between the Harbert College of Business and the College of Architecture, Design, and Construction. The growth in the MRED program and its enhanced reputation over the years is the genesis for the recently approved institute. This institute will complement the MRED program and will bring visibility to the university’s expertise in real estate development.
The Institute for Real Estate Development (the Institute) seeks to advance and support real estate education at Auburn University, empower and inform real estate professionals, and serve as the nexus between Auburn University and the real estate community. The Institute will have a midsouth/national focus, concentrating on multiple real estate sectors.
The Institute will accomplish its mission by:
  • Supporting students, faculty, and staff involved in the MRED program and other real estate education at Auburn University
  • Serving as a source of thought leadership to real estate practitioners, students, and faculty
  • Serving as a source of professional and continuing education services for real estate professionals
Job Responsibilities: The administrative director is a seasoned academic staff member who understands the internal operations of Auburn University.
In addition to tasks not yet identified, the administrative director will:
  • Lead day-to-day operations and manage the physical space of the Institute
  • Communicate with Auburn University Procurement & Business Services regarding the processing of expense reimbursements
  • Administer the membership program and support initiatives
  • Administer the mentoring program
  • Serve as the primary source of communication with the Institute’s stakeholders (e.g., supporters, board members, students)
  • Collaborate with the executive director and the academic director to shape, articulate, and implement institute strategy in all areas, specifically:
    • professional practitioner, faculty, and stakeholder engagement
    • practitioner conferences, symposia, awards gala, panel discussions, lectures, and podcasts
    • research-related events, managing the research grant process, and disseminating research findings
    • professional development, continuing education, and certificate development
    • publishing reports provided to Auburn University, the Institute’s board, and Institute stakeholders
    • fundraising and grant development
    • budgeting and resource allocation
  • Supervise and evaluate the administrative support, the engagement and events coordinator, and the career services coordinator.

Birmingham is a similar drive to the north and Montgomery, the state capital, is only 50 minutes to the southwest. Beaches and mountains are only a 3-4 hour drive. Minimum Qualifications

Job Qualifications: A successful candidate will have strong communication (both written and verbal), leadership, and time management skills. This person will also have critical thinking, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills. The desired candidate will be detail-oriented, with exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities. This person should take a proactive and resourceful approach to tasks and have knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other technical relationship management tools. This position will include possible work on evenings and weekends and some travel is expected. A bachelor’s degree at the time of employment along with a minimum of two years of relevant administrative experience is required. Selected candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the term of employment.
