About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will provide invoicing, cash management professional-level support, and customer service (internal partners, sponsors, and external vendors) within an accounting services environment. You will serve as an Oracle AR expert and will provide training/customer service to SEI users to help them understand and utilize the AR and grants management system efficiently, which includes coaching less experienced AR/cash management accountants and helping them resolve problems. All while supporting our leadership in the development of SEI procedures relative to the administration of receivables, accounting. You will work closely with the team creating, analyzing, implementing, and making recommendations for change. You will also be participating in special projects/tasks as assigned to support the department.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5-8 years accounting or finance experience
- Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving
abilities
- Expert level knowledge of Excel
- Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
- Enterprise-wide financial systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ensure proper AR balance sheet and revenue activity through the
oversight of all AR revenue accounts. You will reconcile all
sponsored and non-sponsored activity and will prepare journal
entries to correct any errors.
- Process all financial reports and invoices to external
customers in compliance with SEI federal contract and/or industry
sponsors guidelines, University policies, CAS, and GAAP
- Close awards within the Oracle Grants Application and reconcile
F&A recovery in accordance with University procedures.
- Assists with development and review of policies and guidelines
to support compliance as well as provide the SEI with clear and
concise direction for SEI funding, revenue, and receivables.
- Coach and mentor, junior SEI Sponsored AR Accountants, provide
indirect oversight, guidance, and training.
- Serve as an Oracle AR expert and provide training/customer
service to SEI users to help them understand and utilize the AR and
grants management system efficiently.
- Prepares a variety of financial reports, administrative
reports, and reconciliations.
- Develops non-standard reports and statements utilizing
gold-source systems. Analyzes financial data and makes
recommendations to senior management.
- Participate in the implementation of new technologies and
initiatives in accounts receivable management. Assists with Oracle
Grants/AR Testing/data accumulation/data gathering/SEI tools as
required.
- Other projects/duties as assigned to support the
department.

- Knowledgeable – You have a practical understanding of federal
contracts and compliance requirements.
- Master’s or CPA
- Strong knowledge of Uniform Guidance and Federal Acquisition
Regulation
- Prior experience in higher education and/or federal contracting
is strongly preferred.
